Mindfulness for Families

Week of Wellness title 2

Mindfulness For Families

Course Language: ENGLISH

Monday February 22
1:30 – 2:30 PM

The most precious gift we can offer is our presence. When mindfulness embraces those we love, they will bloom like flowers. Thich Nhat Hanh

Mindfulness can be developed through formal meditation practices, such as awareness of breath, mindful walking, mindful eating, body awareness, awareness through the senses, and many other informal practices we can easily incorporate to our daily routine. By intentionally practicing to develop our awareness, in a non-judgemental way, we can learn to bring this present-moment awareness into our everyday lives, specially into our parenting endeavor.

Through a consistent mindfulness practice, we can learn to be less reactive and more intentional in our words and actions. We can become more intimately aware of our emotions and respond to our family members, rather than being swept away when they become very intense. Mindfulness practice can support us in leading a richer life as we learn to be present with all that life brings our way. As a result, this life-style becomes a rewarding approach, which is highly beneficial for the healthy development of our children. Practicing mindfulness, we build an approach to parenting founded on basic principles of internal understanding and interpersonal connection.

In this talk, we will explore the anchor points of this parent-child relationship, including a perspective on interpersonal neurobiology and some easy strategies to try at home. We will also have the opportunity to share a short Meditation practice together.

I hope to see you soon!
